Young Gardener

"No occupation is so delightful to me as the culture of the earth, no culture comparable to that of the garden...But though an old man, I am but a young gardener."

Hi Michelle, spring has arrived there! Are those the woodland phlox, divaricata? What a fabulous mass planting of them! It all looks like a dream, so cheering and happy.

I am a young gardener who has lots to learn from older knowledgable gardeners. One day I will be the one people ask for advice. My garden buddy Mrs. Brown is 80 years old. She and her husband work in their gardens everyday. She is a plethera of information. She has learned by trial and error. I have told her I just need to come and sit with her and take notes.

Lovely quote and photo! Thanks for sharing it with us.

I agree, the physical body may wane but our desires and hearts won't.

I like that quote a lot. It does make me feel young realizing I have so much to learn still. That's what makes it so rewarding to me. Beautiful picture.

I'm sure everyone knows how instrumental Jefferson was in making gardening what it is today. We visited Monticello several years ago and hope to go again soon. You should go if you've not been.

Hi Michelle,
have been looking through your blog, and have decided that as well as everything else that needs to be done this year, I need a cold frame like the one in your picture. Not want note, need. Can't you just imagine sliding up those frames and letting the air drift through the plants?Mmm.

Aubretia, I (think)!! Nothing quite like it in the Spring especially tumbling over rock walls etc.

Im getting my old bum in the garden today and weeding!!! Ahh the joys of weeding. My little 3 year old helper will make it fun. Great post, and knew there was a reason why Jefferson is one of my favorite Presidents.
