Reynolda Gardens Part 2: Conservatory Greens

This photo shows the Conservatory entrance from the inside. Outside you can see a sneak peak of the formal gardens.

Here is a little Maiden Hair Fern that has made itself at home on the Conservatory floor.

The plant below is called Nepenthes 'Miranda'. It is a fascinating type of orchid! The pitchers are around 8 or more inches long!

I can't remember what this is called. Martha Stewart had some on her show a few weeks ago though.

Another orchid.

A collection of ferns.

These conservatory photos are achingly amazing. I love orchids, but man, the FERNS ... I use fern rubber stamps a lot in my journal, but I haven't really 'met' many in person -- now I really want to. And the conservatory itself -- makes me want to dance, all that light! Have you seen the movie Sabrina, or whatever it's called, with Julia Ormond and Harrison Ford? There is a conservatory scene in that -- I don't even know what the characters say to each other, I'm so busy drooling over the plants and building!

Beautiful ferns, they give a forest-y feel to the pictures, a coolness, maybe. What a beautiful place to spend an afternoon.

to on a cold spring day!

I want to live there! Wouldn't that be awesome? Just find room for a kitchen and restroom, and I'd be set.

These pictures are pure escapism for me on a Sunday night that is slowly creeping into a hectic Monday morning. Ferns are so beautiful. My mum can grow them with her eyes closed. I have always dreamed of having a conservatoy with ferns and white wicker chairs to lie in sipping hot tea. sigh

Gorgeous pictures! I think the fern you have pictured that you saw on Martha Stewart (who I'm in love with but don't tell my wife) is a staghorn fern.

Thanks for stopping by my blog too, come back soon when you're next in town. ;~)

i love each photo separately, and especially love the mood created by looking at them all together... scrolling through them hanging together in this wonderful post you really get a sense of what it must be like to be in their presence...

Loving this series!
Yes, I think TC is correct on the one you weren't sure of, staghorn fern. Just had a customer ask us to try and find him one, maybe because he saw it on Martha!
