Looks like some kind of bromeliad. Most electric indeed!
wow, the colors on that bromeliad are really spectacular, haven't seen that blue variety around my neck of the woods in hawaii yet....hope you picked it up for the indoors :)

The flower stalk is indeed brilliant, and beautiful!

It may be a blue tango or a del mar. Both have blue flowers. Google those names for more pix. (I have a blue tango here in Miami.)
