Some pics of My Yard

Here are some pictures of my iris beds from 2006. The bloom isn't at its full potential. The soil still needs some serious amending and the irises need some dividing.

These are some of the beds that have been newly planted.

This is Blue Eyed Blond.

This is a shot of my shade garden in the spring of '07 i think. I just replanted some plants and added some new brick edging.

I don't consider my garden very well designed at this point. More than anything it's a place to stuff my plants till i have some acreage to spread them out on. I generally just shove things in where i can. I always buy to many plants! Most of my yard is dedicated to irises as you can see. Someday I will have a beautiful piece of land to fill with my collection. Until then...

What beautiful gardens you have here! I've always thought of gardens as works-in-progress, always changing, always evolving, almost a living being in itself. Love that shade garden, what are some of the plants there? I have a shady spot that could use some dressing up!

Nice irises, better than most we see here in NC. Them seem to crowd themselves way to rapidly. Same with the Siberian irises, I love them but keeping them nice is beyond me.

The Iris is my all-time favourite flower. This post has made me smile. You have beautiful irises and quite the green thumb. Congrats

How pretty. I planted my first irises last fall and they are coming up nicely. We have an iris farm not too far from where I live. I used to think that all irises were purple, but now I realize there are so many varieties. Looking forward to seeing your iris collection in bloom.

I think it looks grand. Even when I try to plan a garden, it ends up being stuffed. I like too many plants.

You just can't beat the regal ladies of bearded iris! While I have but one, (and a common purple at that), the sheer elegance of their blooms, their ruffled gowns, their fragrance (either the old-fashion sharp scent or the 'new' perfumes), and their fan of foliage can't be beat. Thanks for posting your pics!

My beds are places to put flowers, too, and I don't see an acreage in my future to move them to. I think your beds look great!

I especially love the iris with the light blue standards and dark blue falls. What is its name?
