Iris Babies

My iris seedlings are coming up great! I have about 65 up now. I'm going to have somewhere near a 90% or better germination rate which is awesome. Hopefully they turn out to be some new beauties in a year or two.

Some goodies I have accumulated this spring including many herbs, speedwell, viola, phlox, dianthus, Irish moss and more.

Woodland phlox have a lovely fragrance. I only have a tiny bit in my garden currently, so I need more.

I have been keeping pretty busy lately. I have been working at the farmers market a few days each week and helping out friends in their gardens. I will be heading up north in three weeks for the summer. I can't wait!

Iris seedlings are very exciting. Since they hybridize so readily, you will have wonderful new colors.

Can't wait till our local farmer's markets reopen.

What a great thing. I guess I ddin't even know this was possible. I can't wait to try it this year with the seeds from all the neighborhood irises that I admire.

What great success with your Iris. I didn't even know that they could be started from seed. I have some Iris from my sister that I'm hoping will bloom this year. The Woodland Phlox is really pretty.

That is a great germination rate for your Iris. I used to have so many different colored ones a long time ago. They grow well down here. Now I am wishing I had more.

All your plants are looking wonderful!
Have a great day.

Thanks for stoppin' in to console my heart..it meant alot to me dear~
I got my first plant for our "sun" yard...being developed this spring and summer..Elsie got it as a gift, atop her resting place.
I know you know my heart ache..so sorry to hear that both your beloved pets were lost= last summer.
Just think of the fabulous gardens they frolic in NOW! Elsie is eating cat grass..without throwing up!

Beautiful flowers and plantings here. Everything's really blossoming now here, too. With the unusual early heat in the 80s we had last week, some plants are even blossoming too early. The farmers are worried early blossoming apple blossoms might be damaged by frosts we're still getting.

Growing irises from seed....WOW! I'm impressed. They look great.

There are a couple of speedwell plants in my garden. The goldfinches like to perch on the tall flower stalks and eat the seeds.

I've never met a phlox that I didn't luv.

I added phlox last spring and am now wondering why I did not add it sooner! Love the stuff....

Hi, and, nice blog.
Is woodland flox what I (perhaps mistakenly) call creeping flox in my garden?
Exciting about your irises.

Your iris seedlings are going strong...wow! I never thought of growing them from seed, you are one serious gardening girl;-) You have a lot of 'new' plants there. I am always adding new ones and always forget to take pictures and blog about them. In actuality, it seems like I am bringing home a car-load at least every other week!
