She Hunts Like a Girl

Opening day is coming to a close and the bucks are starting to fill the poles. These are hung up outside of a gas station here in Bear Lake.

The deer to the far right is about the largest one up there. We meet the nice lady that shot it.

Here they are again from the other side. See the little one next to it? It's her husbands.

I think he is going to have a bit of buck envy.

This post reminds me that Michigan's deer hunting season starts earlier than in WI. I come from a long line of deer hunters, but my dad is now too old and my husband and son are busy with other things. I still remember how fun it was for all of us to be together in the woods in a small cabin.

I definitely have buck envy! Maybe I need to come hunt up there!

That is gruesome and cool all at the same time. I will not share that here or it will be the new town thing. lol

A two seater outhouse? I cannot pee in a bathroom when someone is in the stall next to me. Must be performance issues I didn't know I had. Can you imagine looking at someone and trying to go? Awesome list too~

OH MY. I've never seen anything like that! How interesting! Have you ever dressed or seen one dressed?

I wish I liked deer meat. I think hunting your own food is a very noble thing.

i'm not a hunter, though we have several friends who are, so i believe there should be a big CONGRATS to the hunters who'll grace their tables with fresh venison.

I hope that reduces the tick population too for you.

I was just visiting my sister and her husband is a hunter. He had his animals hanging in the garage. They are frozen SOLID since the temperature where she lives was -34 over the weekend. It was fascinating to see how he was preparing them for butchering!

Hi-
Just came across your blog, and saw that you're from around Bear Lake. I used to vacation there back in the 80's. I always had a blast! Love that area. Just wanted to say Hi.
