New Garden Spaces

This is my freshly tilled new bed for my 09 iris orders. I have over 200 coming. I'm not sure what the measurements are but its around 40x40 feet I'm guessing. I will be adding another further back in the yard as well.

Here are the new shade areas I have to work with. I plan to do some raised beds in here and put in lots of hostas, hellebores, astilbe, heuchera, bulbs, etc.

We are ripping out these shrubs to put in Rhododendrons, azaleas and other shade plants. I would love to attract lots of birds to this window too.

You can see some plants just waiting to be planted. These are just some of the plants that made the trip from NC this past spring.

This is my mothers little fountain that she has been working on. Right now its just kinda sitting there but once we get some landscaping on that little hill it should fit in nicely.

That is one nice looking bed! Two hundred irises...that will be an amazing display come spring! Will you plant rows by color, height and bloom time? And please, tell me how you keep deer out! I know they don't particularly like irises but the rest of your garden?

You are going to be one busy girl planting all those flowers! That freshly tilled dirt is so pretty. I suppose one is officially garden crazy when dirt is pretty!

Wow! Look at all that bare dirt! I get so excited when I see that! Are you going to plant other things besides iris? I suggest also planting day lilies, Fireworks, Wichita Moungains, or Little Lemon Goldenrod, and asters here and there for blooms all season. Some liatris thrown in would be pretty, too. I like Rough Blazing Star, Spotted Gayfeather, and those that are more native and don't get quite as tall as some of them.

I'm not remembering where you live, but I'm in zone 5b, Nebraska.

I can't wait to see it in bloom! Where do you order your Iris?
I haven't really bought any, most of mine have been gifted to, in other words, they wanted to get rid of them. :)

200 irises! Wow! That's a lot of planting. I can't wait to see photos when they are blooming next year. Should be spectacular.

40 by 40 is quite a size. Imagine if the plants need 1 foot interval, we are talking about more than a thousand seedlings.

Love the see the progress.
