An evening that seemed no different than any others went terribly wrong. First, I made a delicious strawberry banana smoothie. It was sweet and perfect and I couldn't wait to go sit down and enjoy it but first I had to clean the pitcher.
I went to set my smoothie on the counter off to my side and completely missed the counter, dropping it flat on the floor. Have you ever seen what happens to the contents of a glass when it falls perfectly flat? Well, it rockets into the sky sending smoothie in all directions. Including my hair, curtains, clothing, ceiling, sink, walls, cupboards and the floor. Needless to say I dropped some pretty serious language after that. I then began the clean up of my delicious smoothie after the anger had some what subsided. The cup didn't break, in fact it barely made a sound when it hit the floor. Later I found crusty, dried smoothie on the top of my head.
So I'm sitting on the couch enjoying my wine (no smoothie for me) when for some reason I decided to shove my finger in my eye! It's been a while since I have done that and I certainly hope it's a long while before it happens again. I was blind for about the next half hour. For some reason when you poke one eye it's impossible to open either of them. With tears and mascara streaming down my face I just sat and waited for my eye to stop burning.
I awoke this morning fully expecting to have nothing wrong. Well, my vision is blurry still which concerns me some. I hope I didn't damage my lens or something. It still hurts a bit too. We will see what the day brings. I hope no more disasters.

Are your sure there was no odd occurrence in Nature that might have caused such minor disasters as what befell you?? I wanted to laugh while reading your post, but felt like I'd hurt your feelins so I didn't (even though I know you can't see me!). And I sure hope you didn't injure your eye!
I hope no more disasters for you, too! Just stay on the couch today with your bottle of wine. Don't get up! ;-)
Thanks for the comment on my blog about my cindydyer.zenfolio.com gallery. I appreciate it!
Love your posting about all the plants you bought. You should see my car right now. Full of $1.50 6" (yes, a Home Depot manager special!) plants---marigolds and ageratums. And by the front door I have a flat of allysum and morning glories. And it's been raining the past few days, so I can't really plant. Okay, I could, but potting soil and rain make for soil soup, ya know?
Stay safe, ya hear?
I've had days like that...not too long ago, tripping and breaking my new cameras. I do hope your eye is ok.... a call to your opthamologist might be in order. gail
Sorry, I had to laugh out loud...i think we may have been separated at birth...i do stuff like that ALL THE TIME!...ps..love our blog!
Oh my. I'm sorry your evening was so rotten. I have had days like that too! Several years ago, one of my oldest son's friends accidentally knocked a freshly made pitcher of Kool-Aid off the counter! He tried to grab it and stop it. I still found dried sticky Kook-Aid in strange places months later!
Blessings,
Lorilee
Darn the luck! I am sorry about the menagerie of issues but I am sure glad I am not the only one who does that stuff! Hope today is better!
Hopefully the rest of your day will be better. Hope your eye is okay :)
Gee, I hope your eye gets better soon. And yes-I bet you were a sight!
Hope the eye is okay. *ouch* wez my reaction when i read ur post.... atleast u had no audience ( i alwez manage to make a fool outta myself in front of an audience )
really liked ur blog :)
Oh no! One of those days, I guess, we all have them. Take it easy today, and I hope your eye clears up!
Some bad day, but look at it this way it'll be a very long time before you top this day.
Thanks for all the comments. Sadly I did have an audiance when it all happened. My boyfriend and two other friends were over.
My eye is still a little sore but vision is improving.
It was all pretty funny, painful, but funny.
Don't feel bad. A little while back I poked myself in the eye with the corner of my notebook, ouch. Hope yours feels better.
Sounds as if it's safer for you to drink wine than smoothies...
Probably your eye is just a little irritated. Try a compress: a cold chamomile teabag, a slice of potato or cucumber, or cotton wool with some Swedish bitters on - if you lay any of these on your closed eyelids for 15 minutes off and on through the day, it will probably feel better. Ice works too but doesn't feel so great.
You know, some days are just like this! Drink more wine. It will go away.
very good blog, congratulations
regard from Reus Catalonia
thank you
Seems the order of the day is"drink more wine" careful not to overdo it though. You may fall down. *chuckle*
Tell you what, I will have a couple of glasses of wine for you tonight.
Thanks for that! You really gave me a giggle! Fingers are funny things, they take a life of their own sometimes!!! haha Hope your eye is ok and sorry for laughing if it isnt!
Linzi x x
LMAO Sorry, I shouldn't laugh, but I've had similar days. I DO think you should consider seeing your eye doctor if your vision's still screwy...
After refilling a bottle of olive oil and starting to put the trickle-flow topper back in place, I started to think "hm, I REALLY filled that up to the edge! Could this be a problem!?" But before I could finish the thought and consider pouring a bit of the oil back in the original container FIRST, I had pushed down on the top, and the pressure LAUNCHED olive oil straight up out of the top (the pour spout) and hit the ceiling. There's no wiping that enough to prevent some oil spots on the ceiling... :-(
And lately I've had a bad habit of ramming my hand/knuckles into things just because I've misjudged distances...
Is this old age?
Oh, I felt so bad for you reading of your misadventures, yet callously I ended up laughing hysterically at your bang-on descriptions. I hope your eye is better and also hope that the smoothie had some nice conditioning properties for your hair. As one of your other readers commented: Drink more wine. Sure can't hurt... or at least it will numb the pain. LOL
